Abstract

The article deals with the theoretical issues on professional competence of the future borderguards-interpreters. It has been underlined that professional training of the future borderguards-interpreters predicts forming their professional competence at the lessons of translation. The main components of their professional competence are language competence, communicative competence, translation competence, technical competence and personal characteristics. It has been determined that the first three components are appropriate to any type of translation but the last two of them are specific only for the consecutive translation. It has been defined that the methodological techniques for teaching consecutive translation are the principle from the simplest one to the most difficult thing, logical structure of the lesson, using communicative situations with the language material to be learnt. It has been stressed on training, operational and integral exercises to be done at the lessons of translation. It has been concluded about necessity of engaging borderguards-interpreters to the systematic practice of translating texts of different genres, teaching them the rules of translation, special terminology to facilitate the process of translation. The optimal number of borderguards to be taught is 6-8 cadets (one is the interpreter, the rest of the group listen to the translation, check, correct and analyze mistakes). It has been highlighted that as a result future borderguards-interpreters acquire new skills to take their own decision in the process of translation under the supervision of the teacher, not to make similar mistakes, to have critical point of view as for the variants of translation, to know tasks, duties and responsibilities of the interpreter.
